Taylor Sims is an Associate at Texas Star Alliance, bringing over a decade of experience in Texas politics, policy, and private sector advocacy. Taylor started her career in the Texas Capitol, serving under State Representative Ken Legler and then in the Executive Office of House Speaker Joe Straus.
Taylor sharpened her policy and politics experience in the private sector, specializing in healthcare reimbursement, regulatory, and legislative affairs, holding roles such as Director of Government Affairs and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. With experience working inside of start-up ventures, privately held enterprises, and publicly traded corporations, she advised leadership regarding the effects of legislative and regulatory proposals in Texas and Washington DC, directed advocacy and fundraising, and coordinated legislative communication and issue resolution.
In her current role, Taylor leads and supports policy efforts for a diverse clientele, spanning healthcare, education, technology, energy, transportation, and appropriations. She has a track record of successfully managing clients’ bills through the legislative process, coordinating directly with elected officials and legislative staff, then working with regulators through implementation processes.
In her personal life, Taylor has been a member of the Anti-Defamation League, participating in the Glass Leadership Institute, a program designed to cultivate effective leaders and advocates on behalf of the mission to defend democratic ideals and protect civil rights for all. In addition, she has served as a Co-Chair of the Maverick PAC that works to engage new generations in politics. Taylor is originally from San Antonio, Texas, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and a proud member of the Texas Exes.
